Parrish spent ten years in crisis intervention, helping kids and adults through the most difficult time in their lives. Wanting to make even more of a difference in young people’s lives, she went back to school so should could get into education. She has spent over twenty years in education, including the last sixteen in Crystal Lake Elementary District 47, making a difference by teaching children and supporting teachers. In order to help people even more, she recently decided to become a certified Conversational Intelligence® Coach (C-IQ), helping people navigate, collaborate, and grow with others.
A huge proponent of Leadership Greater McHenry County (LGMC), Parrish had the opportunity to participate in the first ever LGMC class in 2005. She was inspired by the idea of servant leadership, and she has been active as an alumnus ever since. She participates in their annual Lend a Hand Day, supports their annual Back to School fundraiser for school supplies, presents for their internship program, and participates in alumni events. This experience has inspired her to serve her community, which she has done as a Commissioner for the Crystal Lake Fire and Police Board since 2010. She has also been an active member of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Parrish earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Illinois State University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Teaching, Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. She also earned several certificates over the years, including a General School Administration Certificate from Northern Illinois University, a Graduate Human Resources Management Certificate from the University of Phoenix, and an Executive Coaching Certificate from Fielding University.
A resident of Illinois her entire life, Parrish has lived in Crystal Lake for twenty-one years with her husband, Rob. Their son, Casey, is a fourth generation Crystal Lake Central Tiger, in his senior year. Their pets are like family, with a yellow lab named Hazel and a cat they named Nacho Kitty, because she’s the color of Doritos.
